The Infection Week & Microbiological Spring Meeting is co-organized for the sixth consecutive year by the Swedish Association of Infectious Diseases, the Swedish Association of Infectious Nurses and the three microbiological associations: the Association for Clinical Microbiology, the Swedish Association for Microbiology and the Swedish Association for Microbiology. The host and local organizer of the spring meeting is the Infection Clinic and Clinical Microbiology at Akademiska Sjukhuset in Uppsala.
The meeting provides a unique opportunity for dialogue between physicians, nurses, biomedical analysts, microbiologists, molecular biologists, researchers and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry and diagnostic companies.
In Uppsala, we have chosen to increase the number of parallel sessions in order to be able to offer more targeted lectures in specific areas of our field of work. During the week we will learn more about new findings in sensitivity tests, respiratory care and updated malaria recommendations. We also offer news in HIV, hepatitis and bacterial CNS infections, and a multi-professional review of echinococcosis. There will also be an opportunity to make a study visit to the newly built Hub where Clinical Microbiology will showcase its activities. As in previous years, joint sessions such as the Grand Round and keynotes will be on the scientific program, topics this year are the gene scissors Crispr-Cas9, antibiotic resistance and sepsis. After last year's record in the number of submitted abstracts, we have high hopes that it will be an equally good turnout in Uppsala. New for this year is that in addition to Tuesday night's poster display dinner, the nurses will have a poster display in conjunction with their joining of the meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting is held at Fyrishov, one of Sweden's most visited arenas. The good bus links between Uppsala Central Station and Fyrishov makes it easy to cover the approximately two kilometers, but you can also walk there in beautiful surroundings along the river Fyrisån. During the week, participants will be offered various activities like city walks and puls rate-raising activities, and to add a bit of glamour, Wednesday's joint dinner will be held at the ancient Uppsala Castle.
During the whole conference, a major exhibition is also organized, where companies in pharmaceuticals, medical technology and laboratory technology participate. As an exhibitor, there are good opportunities for meetings with the participants during coffee breaks and lunches. We offer several different package solutions for the companies based on the desired area at the exhibition and number of days you want to participate.
The deadline for submitting abstract is February 29 2020, the date for the final submission will not be extended. By registering on time you avoid the increased registration fee that applies from April 1st. The registration fee is lower for whose of you who are a member of any of the five organizing associations.
